I am an artist-researcher whose practice explores the intersections of art, culture, community, and social change. Working internationally, I combine painting, public art, socially engaged practice, and research to investigate how artistic traditions are sustained, adapted, and reimagined within rapidly changing societies.

Whether creating large-scale murals, developing exhibitions, conducting field research, or facilitating community projects, my work is driven by a belief that art can foster dialogue, strengthen communities, and generate new ways of understanding the world.

Art

For more than two decades I have worked as a professional visual artist, creating murals, paintings, installations, and public artworks across Europe, Asia, Africa, and North America. My work ranges from large-scale commissioned murals and exhibitions to site-specific projects that respond to local histories, cultures, and communities. Increasingly, my artistic practice draws upon long-term research, using visual art to explore themes of identity, cultural continuity, place, and social change.

Research

Alongside my artistic practice, research has become central to my work. Holding a Master’s degree in Fine Art with distinction, I investigate Indigenous artistic practices, cultural continuity, and community agency through long-term collaborative engagement, particularly in Nepal. My research combines visual practice with fieldwork, dialogue, photography, sound, and writing, and has been presented through exhibitions, conferences, publications, and photo essays. Current work includes ongoing research into artistic traditions in Nepal and the development of new publications exploring art, heritage, and social change.

Community

Community collaboration has been at the heart of my practice throughout my career. I have worked with schools, youth groups, NGOs, cultural organisations, and local communities to develop participatory arts projects that encourage creativity, dialogue, and shared ownership. As co-founder of Kala Sikchya, a volunteer-led after-school art initiative in Kathmandu, I continue to work with young people to expand access to creative education. Whether through murals, workshops, or collaborative research, I see art as a powerful tool for community empowerment, cultural exchange, and positive social change.
